Sustainability

We are proud to say all of the vineyards we manage are sustainably farmed. As strong supporters of Fish Friendly Farming, we have recently been recognized as one of the few winegrape growers to have been certified for 20+ years. La Prenda Vineyards Management has also been certified by the California Land Stewardship Institute (CLSI) since 2020.

As second generation grape farmers, we implement different farming techniques and practices throughout our vineyards. To us, sustainability is a tradition and a great responsibility that has been passed down through generations. It is every new generation’s responsibility to help educate those who express interest in our trade. It is imperative that our community understands the importance of what we do and our passion and commitment to our land. As technology advances, we continue to upgrade our farming equipment to better accommodate sustainable practices. We also continue to monitor our water usage on a per vine basis, constantly learning new techniques to help reduce the amount of water that travels below the root zone.

We are constantly adapting our practices to include current environmental recommendations and regulations. By incorporating our own strict guidelines, this ensures that we, and future generations of farmers, will be able to continue doing what we truly love; Farming Our Land.

"I was very fortunate to grow up in the Sonoma Valley and as a kid caught numerous trout in our local creeks, so it's very important to me that we "farm lightly" and continue to maintain and enhance the environment with our farming practices,” said Ned Hill. “With the numerous sightings of salmon returning to our watershed this winter I think it's a testament to our Fish Friendly Farming practices."- Ned Hill
